Shalom as a reflection of marriage

Dearest readers,

Today I have a burning question for you.

Does anyone know the parable about the word shalom and how the characters are a reflection of marriage?  There are some vague memories of it being shared at my Shabbat Kallah, but no one can remember all of it or who said it!

Here is what we know – can you fill in the shin?
shin – ((…))

lamed – sometimes you need to stand your ground, tall, and sometimes you need to lean over and allow for your spouses’ opinions

vav – sometimes you need to be present, and sometimes invisible

mem – sometimes you need to be open to others, and sometimes you need to be closed and just focus on your family
Thank you in advance,
Melissa and friends =)

  1. I don’t remember hearing a vort like this (though it sounds great). Maybe it has something to do with the three arms – that it’s husband, wife, and Hashem in the relationship? Hatzlacha with finding the answer!
